In the late 1800s, some writers during the Victorian age were fascinated by Greek heroes. So, they incorporated some of their stories into their own works of fiction. In some instances, those writers used people from their own world as their Greek characters. But, perhaps none of those writers have taken it to a deeper level than "The Odyssey" author Homer. In a letter that he wrote to a friend, Homer revealed that he slept with his copy of his masterpiece "The Odyssey" beneath his pillow.
